ESL Worksheets
Used to - get used to guessing game
Worksheet description
Students read four descriptions of situations (e.g. you are hiking through the jungle.) in which the reader's life has changed in some way. Each includes examples of be used to and get used to. Students read and guess the situation.
Instructions
Cut up the sheet as indicated and give one situation to each student.*
Explain that they are going to read out their card to the other students.
Give them time to think about pronunciation - stress, weak forms etc. and to ask any questions about unfamiliar words.
Students then take it in turns to read out their situation. The others in the group must guess the situation.
* For weaker groups, or to further exploit the texts, give groups the same card but remove the answer at the bottom of the card. Get them to discuss their situation and guess. Then hand out the answer lines and reform the groups so that the new groups are composed of one student from each of the previous groups. They then take it in turns to read out their situation.
