Comparing cities quiz
Worksheet description
Eighteen cards with statements comparing cities for size, weather, pollution etc. Most use the more challenging as...as structure along with modifiers: nearly / not nearly as big as etc.
Instructions
1. Cut up the cards and divide them between two teams of 2 - 3 students.
2. The teams turn over the cards one by one and fold over the bottom half so they can't see it. They discuss whether the statement is true or false. If they think it is false, they correct it. They then turn the card upside down to see the answer.
3. The teams take it in turn to read out the original statements to the other team, who have 20-30 seconds to decide if they think it's true or false. If they are correct, they get a point.
Note: The information was taken from various online sources including Wikipedia, Numbeo and others in 2018; accuracy has not been verified and some questions are open to debate...which can make the exercise all the more interesting.
